Papiss Cisse: Newcastle United striker accepts spitting charge

Newcastle United's striker, Papiss Cisse has accepted a FA's charge involving spitting at Manchester United's defender Jonny Evans.

Cisse, 29, faces a possible seven-game ban regarding his part during the incident, which happened during Manchester United's 1-0 win at St James park on Wednesday.

Evans, 27, has yet to reply to the FA immediately after being charged in Thursday.

However, he has denied deliberately spitting with Cisse.

Senegal intercontinental Cisse had earlier issued a affirmation apologising for the actions.

The FA charge read that "in or around the 38th minute of the game the two players spat at each other" and Cisse could receive a ban of up to six matches for the offence after admitting his part in the incident.
He would also have to miss an additional game, having already received a ban this season.

Evans has until 18:00 GMT on Friday to respond to the FA charge.

No guaranteed starting lineup for Gerarrd- Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers says England midfielder, Steven Gerrard will not "walk straight into" the starting line-up when he is fit. He faces stiff competiton and has to fight for his place in the first team.

Liverpool captain, who may be back for Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final against Blackburn, suffered a hamstring injury and has missed the last six matches.

"There is no-one in the squad who has a God-given right to walk straight into the team," said Rodgers.
"I have shown in my time here that players who are performing well, irrespective of price or status, they play - simple as that.
"Steven is very much a team man and if he was on the bench because the team was in good form and playing well, I think everyone respects that."
The reds captain will leave at the end of the season to join the MLS side, Los Angeles Galaxy in the USA.

Manchester United: Ryan Giggs dismisses Louis van Gaal rift talk

Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs has dismissed reports of a rift with boss Louis van Gaal.
Rumours of tension between the pair surfaced after Giggs appeared reluctant to fully celebrate Ashley Young's winning goal at Newcastle on Wednesday.
Former team-mate Paul Scholes suggested Giggs "may not have the patience" to remain as number two for the next three years.

We respect Arsenal but don't fear them, Herrera: Man United vs Arsenal

Ander Herrera says Manchester United cannot wait for Monday's FA Cup quarter-final tie with Arsenal and says the Reds go into the tie with respect but no fear of the opponents.
Fresh from helping United to three crucial points in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Newcastle, Herrera and the rest of the Reds squad now quickly turn attentions to the huge Cup clash at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard, who has been in fine form of late, is relishing facing the Gunners as Louis van Gaal’s men look to take a step closer to a Wembley final in May. However, with so much riding on the match for both teams, Herrera is well aware of the magnitude of this fixture.
